What is a Waterproofing System?

A Waterproofing System (WS) is a spray, roller or brush applied layer or membrane that prevents the ingress or egress of water or moisture. Thus protecting the integrity of the structure it is applied to.

Where can I use it?

Anywhere there is a risk of water or moisture damage to the structure or finishing of a horizontal or vertical surface.

Typically, wet areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, or balconies in residential and accommodation buildings. Also, basements, below ground structures, swimming pools, and roofs that are prone to water holding for prolonged periods.

What are the options?

  • Proprietary Cementitious WP Systems are widely available and are suitable for most applications but particularly where a bond is required for the overlaying material.
  • Proprietary Bituminous WP Systems are also widely available but are more commonly used for below ground or external applications.
  • Specialist WP Systems such as Crystallisation Cementitious Products are part of our portfolio. These are products that form crystals within the pores and hairline cracks in concrete to become an integral part of the structure.
